{"id":8547,"date":"2025-01-07T13:47:36","date_gmt":"2025-01-07T12:47:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ctao.org\/?post_type=news&#038;p=8547"},"modified":"2025-01-07T13:47:36","modified_gmt":"2025-01-07T12:47:36","slug":"ctao-science-data-management-centre-inauguration-on-14-october-2024-zeuthen-germany","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.ctao.org\/de\/news\/ctao-science-data-management-centre-inauguration-on-14-october-2024-zeuthen-germany\/","title":{"rendered":"CTAO Science Data Management Centre Inauguration on 14 October 2024, Zeuthen (Germany)"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Y-K8hcsvQr0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CTAO SDMC Live Streaming in English<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=nm6HT8Vxj5Q\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CTAO SDMC Live Streaming in German<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>On 14 October 2024, more than 250 guests from around the world will gather in Zeuthen, Germany, to celebrate the inauguration of the CTAO Science Data Management Centre (SDMC) building, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctao.org\/de\/organisation\/facilities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">one of the Observatory\u2019s four core facilities<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Located on the <a href=\"https:\/\/desy.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron DESY<\/a> campus, near Berlin, the CTAO SDMC serves as the scientific gateway for the CTAO, coordinating the software and computing work, as well as the science operations of the Observatory and making CTAO\u2018s data products available to the worldwide community. The new building will be the home of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctao.org\/de\/emission-to-discovery\/data-and-computing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CTAO Computing Department<\/a> and also host DESY offices and a new canteen. Aligning with the regional importance of DESY, this is the first time an international research project will be co-hosted on the DESY Zeuthen campus, fostering top international research in Brandenburg and attracting scientist worldwide to work on its premises.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To celebrate this milestone, Mario Brandenburg, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), and Tobias D\u00fcnow, State Secretary at the Ministry of Science, Research and Culture of the State of Brandenburg (MWFK), will participate in the ceremony on campus.
